Mother Catherine Academy’s lower school is comprised of Kindergarten, First and Second grades and Little Saints Preschool, a State Approved Educational Program for three and four year old children. As a team, the lower school teachers work together to provide a solid academic and Catholic foundation for each student by using their knowledge in the field of early childhood to create environments that promote learning and foster healthy growth and development. In Little Saints Preschool, children are taught in a play based learning environment, conducive with their stage of development. Preschool 4 through second grade students use the Superkids literacy curriculum. This is a virtue based program with a strong emphasis on phonics and comprehension. This program builds on itself each year, providing for seamless transitions in the area of literacy as students grow. In the first and second grades, students are taught with the advanced program, Singapore math. The lower school team is dedicated to providing exceptional education to each child aligned with best practices and an understanding of the ever growing and developing young child.
