The FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE Challenge is called SUPERPOWERED℠. Students learned about different types of energy sources, storage, distribution methods, and ways in which energy is consumed. FIRST LEGO League provides students age 9-14 with a hands-on, interactive robotics program in a sports-like atmosphere. Teams of up to 10 players focus on team building, problem solving, creativity, and analytical thinking to develop solutions to a problem currently facing the world – the Challenge.

Each August, a new Challenge is unveiled to FLL teams across the world. Over the ensuing several months the teams strategize, design, build, program, test and refine a fully autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS™ technology. The teams also do their own research, talk to professionals, and develop compelling presentations which relate to the Challenge. At FLL competitions, the teams are evaluated on their robot’s performance, their presentation, teamwork and robot design.

MCA did an outstanding job! The RoboBros started off the first round strong by being the top team to beat. They placed first with 220 points, followed by MCA Thunderbots and MCA Robo Gals. The second round was tough for all three of our teams. This moved RoboBros to third, MCA Thunderbots to twelfth, and MCA Robo Gals to fifteenth. The third and final round on the board all of our teams pulled their best scores of the day! MCA Robo Gals came in for the win at 250 points! We might not have placed for the states competition, but we held our own and finished strong. Way to go MCA Saints!!
