On April 11, 2018, the children in the MCA Garden Club took an after school field trip to visit the Russell Brothers Farm. Brian Russell and other members of the Russell family gave the children a tour of the greenhouses and taught the children about their wholesale greenhouse operation. The children and parents both enjoyed the tour, and examining the MCA tomato project seedlings that the children planted weeks before. We also sampled the soil in the field where the tomatoes will be transplanted this spring. Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the trip was when the Russell Brothers provided flowers for the children to plant in pots to take home.

Russell Brothers Farm is a large supporter of our community, and of our school. The farm is open every Saturday to sell fresh meat, eggs, cheese, canned and baked goods. For more information on the farm, visit https://www.facebook.com/russellbrosLLC.

Mother Catherine Academy would like to thank the Russell Brothers for all their support, and for allowing the children to come out and learn about farming.
